Right on the Camino path, excellent food. My room had a view of the ocean. Staff were very helpful😊

A beautiful location with views all the way up and down the coastline. Gorgeous! The staff are extremely friendly and the breakfast buffet is excellent. We were walking from the Coastal Camino to the Central Portuguese and took a small detour from our route along the cycling path from Póvoa de Varzim to stay here. It’s a little out of the way but very doable for walkers, and from what I hear, a little longer but better than the other crossover routes.

This is a popular resort with Portuguese families who make up the huge majority of visitors here - not many Brits and not much English spoken. Big clean beaches - sea very cold even in July, Huge activity on the beach - these people play Basketball and Beach Volleyball all day and all night! Vast range of restaurants and other bars etc, and all very reasonably priced - did not feel we were paying the same prices we were paying in Porto itself.

Great beaches
Unattractive modern town with nice historic plaza but too many nondescript high rise blocks for my taste.
Inexpensive good value restaurants offering great traditional portuguese dishes

Povoa is a great city.
Povoa is a great city. The beach is wonderful, the people are great, and there is plenty to do within the immediate area (Povoa and Vila do Conde). Povoa is also very close to Porto, Braga, Viana do Castelo, and a host of other cool places. The beach is clean and nice.

If you would like to make a fantastic holiday in a local area near Porto. I would suggest this place. This area just 20 minutes from the Airport and the beach is beautiful. I felt the local shops and restaurants aren't expensive at all.

Povoa De Varzim is a bustling little seaside town with everything you could want as a visitor. Mostly popular with Portuguese so English visitors that like home from home (menus in english etc) might wish to think carefully but otherwise I would definitely return. Safe, clean and easily accessible by car or rail.

this small hotel in the downtown is perfect! it’s close to ocean beach and metro station as well. so if you come to Povoa by metro it takes 10 min to get to the hotel. we spend 5 days there and we didn’t find anything we could complain. the room is very clean, towels and bedsheets are white and fresh. kitchen is common for all rooms and equipped with all facilities you need. the staff was really friendly and helpful. they allowed late check out without extra payment. I do recommend this hotel and hope we’ll come there again!!!
Darling little apartment mere steps from the beach. Hostess Inês was waiting for us. The apartment features a fully equipped kitchen with a modern stove/oven, livingi/eatng area, very large separate bedroom, spotless bathroom with shower and washing machine, and electric blinds. There's a grocery store about 5 minutes walk, and it's just over 10 minutes to the metro station.
Hotel management and staff were extremely friendly and went beyond ant expectations to be helpful. Manuel provided another group of guests and me a ride to dinner and his son also gave me a ride back to Camino trail the next morning after enjoying a good breakfast at the hotel.
I had an enjoyable and memorable experience at the Hotel Contriz
The hotel is in great location, you can be on the beach in one minute walk, room is clean, has refrigerator, good Wi-Fi coverage in our room. room has air conditioner but unable to change temperature, our room is right above the hotel entrance, a little bit noisy, people talk aloud and car motor running sound at late night.
Good place for 1-2 nights in a small city close to Povoa de Varzim, where you can get by taxi (bolt, uber) for 6-8 eur and 15 minutes.
Shop is 7-10 min away by foot.
Minimum facilities in the kitchen, quite clean.
Awesome ocean shore and 100 points view, especially when sun is going down.
Lovely hotel in a beautiful, quiet location. Very friendly and polite staff everywhere, lovely swiming pools and sufficient sunbeds. Breakfast is good. Must say the restaurant was the best part of our trip. Amazing dishes, good ambience, you can have your dinner indoors or outdoors.
The hotel is old, but the location is definitely worth the visit. Beach under your windows, with a beautiful view of the sunset from the restaurant. We were allowed to check-in 2h before the actual check-in time, thanks a lot!
Nice majestic old hotel - feels like another world. Lovely rooms. Staff facilitated us storing our bikes overnight as were cycling along the camino. Lots of nice restaurants nearby in the lovely resort.
The hotel was ok, the bed was comfortable and the cleanliness of the inside of the hotel was of a good standard. The breakfast is hot, fresh and varied. So close to the beachfront too which is lovely.
Siglas & Ruinas is located in the center of town and close to the beach. Its a cosy and comfortable B and B with a very welcoming hostess. We only stayed one night but we hope to be back!
On the beach! Nice set up in rooms... not your typical bunk beds. Had a privacy curtain per section of 2 beds, so you could actually stand and change with privacy.
